TERMS

Terms of service

The contract you accept by using Tab. Written as plainly as we could manage. This document is a starting template — have a lawyer review it before going live in your jurisdiction.

Effective date: the date you read this. Material changes go up on this page and an event fires to every connected webhook subscription.

What Tab is

Tab is a software protocol that lets two on-chain wallets settle a stablecoin payment. We never hold the funds. We never have your keys. We don't issue securities or commercial paper. We are not a bank or a money-services business. If you need a regulated entity in the loop, Tab is not it.

Eligibility

  • You're at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live).
  • You're not on a US or EU sanctions list.
  • You're not using Tab to launder funds, finance terrorism, or do anything else illegal in your jurisdiction.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Resell or repackage the Tab API without our written agreement.
  • Reverse engineer the hosted infrastructure or scrape it for competitive intelligence.
  • Use Tab to defraud counterparties or evade tax obligations.
  • Exploit any vulnerability instead of reporting it to security@thetab.bar.

Your wallet

The wallet generated on your device belongs to you. You're responsible for backing up the private key. Tab cannot recover it, and cannot help you move funds out of a wallet you have lost access to. This is a deliberate property of a non-custodial system, not a bug we can fix.

Fees

1% of each settled payment, taken in the same stablecoin and sent to the protocol treasury at the time of settlement. We may change this fee for new orders with at least 14 days' notice; existing orders settle at the fee they were created under.

No warranty

Tab is provided "as is." The protocol is on chain and immutable; the hosted services (relayer, indexer, dashboard, API) we run as-is with best effort. We don't warrant uptime, error-free operation, or that the contracts haven't been compromised by an attacker. Audit reports for the routers will be linked from the contracts overview page once available.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Tab is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of funds caused by losing your PIN, by an on-chain exploit of a third-party contract you interact with, or by a failure of the chain itself. Our maximum aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Termination

You can stop using Tab at any time by wiping your wallet from your device. We may suspend or terminate access to the hosted services (not the on-chain contracts — we can't) if you violate these terms or if a regulator orders us to. We'll give as much notice as the situation allows.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction Tab Labs is incorporated in. Disputes go through binding arbitration in the same jurisdiction, with limited carve-outs for IP and injunctive relief.
