Stablecoin payments on Celo
A dollar that was designed for retail from day one.
Celo is stablecoin-native, USDC was the point of the chain, not an afterthought. Tab settles directly in USDC with the largest mobile-first user base in crypto outside the US.
Why merchants pick Tab on Celo
Circle-native USDC
Issued directly by Circle on Celo, same risk profile as USDC on Base. No Mento wrapping, no bridge dependency. Tab uses this canonical stable everywhere.
MiniPay-ready
Opera's MiniPay wallet ships preinstalled on Opera Mini across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, hundreds of millions of users with no MetaMask required. Tab payment links open straight into MiniPay's WalletConnect surface; no extra UX work.
Mobile-first audience
Celo's user base skews retail and emerging-market. If your product is a remittance corridor or a creator tipping economy, this is the chain to ship on.
Gas in stablecoin
Celo lets gas be paid in USDC itself. Single-currency accounting, simpler relayer reimbursement.
Drop into the Celo integration in a day.
Same EIP-712 signature, same router contract, same REST API you already use on every other chain. The only thing that changes is the chain id and the stablecoin address.

Technical notes
Block time and finality
Five-second blocks with single-slot finality. Tab treats payments as settled at the first confirmation; reorgs are not a concern in Celo's consensus.
EVM-compatible
Celo is mostly drop-in EVM with one quirk worth knowing: gas can be paid in registered ERC-20 tokens. Our router contracts behave identically; only the relayer's bookkeeping changes.
One stable, every chain
Celo also hosts cEUR, cREAL, and Mento-issued variants, but Tab settles in Circle-native USDC here, same stable used on Base, BSC, Ink, and Solana. One currency to reconcile, no per-chain accounting.
